STRATEGIC IMPERATIVES SUPPORTS NEW CLEAN TECH INITIATIVE

Strategic Imperatives Joins Metro Atlanta Chamber's Clean Tech Leadership Council

(Atlanta, GA) – Strategic Imperatives, a leader in the sustainability consulting industry, announces their participation in a Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce (MAC) initiative to bring 6,000 “clean tech” jobs to Atlanta by 2017. The initiative, announced last Thursday, will attempt to attract companies to Atlanta while growing already-established businesses here.

Diana Rivenburgh, CEO & President of Strategic Imperatives, represents the company on the Clean Tech Leadership Council, a group of corporate executives, university scholars and community leaders collaborating to accomplish the growth vision. The council will concentrate on seven verticals: smart grids, alternatively-fueled vehicles, solar power, water, green building and sustainability services, biofuels and batteries, and recycled products.

Clean tech is an umbrella term used to describe innovative green jobs across several different industries.  Clean tech jobs include ocean-based energy production, solar-panel manufacturing, and biofuel research.  "Cleantech is a large market, it's a growing market, it’s a market that has high wages, and it's a market in which Atlanta starts from a very significant position of strength," said John Brock, chairman of the Metro Atlanta Chamber.  According to The Brookings Institution’s Sizing the Clean Economy’s 2011 study, Metro Atlanta is already a leader in the clean tech industry, with more than 43,000 people working in related jobs.

DIANA RIVENBURGH SPEAKS AT THE GWBC POWER OF PARTNERING ANNUAL CONFERENCE

(Atlanta, GA) – The 2011 Power of Partnering conference is staged for the benefit of the over 900 women business enterprises (WBEs) comprising the Georgia Women's Business Council (GWBC).  The conference is a key part of the GWBC's commitment to the success of women's businesses in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.  According to the most recent American Express Open State of Women's Business Report, Georgia ranked #1 for the fastest growing number of women businesses in the USA.  The efforts of the GWBC, including this conference, have been one factor in that remarkable achievement--all the more impressive in these challenging economic times.

The GWBC identified sustainability as one of the key drivers for success in today's business climate.  And when the topic is integrating sustainability for business growth, Strategic Imperatives is widely recognized as the 'go-to' organization.  Strategic Imperatives’ Diana Rivenburgh was, therefore, invited to join the panel on Sustainability: Find Your Capacity to Endure.  In her presentation, “Sustainability Transforms Business:  How Does Your Company Add Sustainable Value?”she provided proven methods for reinventing their businesses, engaging employees and creating sustainable growth strategies. Quoting Rivenburgh, “Integrating sustainability into the supply chain is a key imperative for large corporations.  As part of the supply chain, women-owned businesses can provide innovative solutions to these corporations.”  The entertaining and engaging presentation was illustrated with stories from real-life experiences with her top clients, such as the Danish pharmaceutical company, Novo Nordisk.  Rivenburgh closed her comments with a call to action by quoting Ray Anderson's 1994 challenge to his company, Interface, "Unless somebody leads, nobody will.  Why not us?"

THE COPING WITH DROUGHT AND WATER SCARCITY PANEL DISCUSSION

A report to the US Army Corps of Engineers by The Chronicles Group, Inc.

(Atlanta, GA) – The Chronicles Group, Inc. will be hosting a panel discussion at the Center for Strategic and International Studies on Wednesday June 16 and Thursday June 17. The panel discussion is part of the Chronicles Group RUNNING DRY project which deals with the challenges facing the planet as it relates to drought, water scarcity and international security.

Water scarcity is a challenge faced by individuals, organizations, industry, and countries all over the world. However, scarcity and drought have the potential to drive innovation and investment. While many businesses recognize the need to practice conservation and recycling practices, there is still a need for the innovative technology to help solve water scarcity issues.

“I’m one of the people that believes that for real change to occur, we are going to have to heavily involve business and industry,” said Diana Rivenburgh of Strategic Imperatives who was in attendance.

The panel discussion will be hosted by CEO & Executive Producer of the Chronicles Group, Jim Thebaut, and Erick Webb, Manager, Government Relations Office, Sandia National Laboratories. It will include 16 experts in water issues divided into three panel sessions addressing three key areas: “Trends and Projections,” “Public Policy and Management Strategies” and “Funding and Resources.”
